Load Cell Calibration Services

Load Cell Calibration Services

Quality Testing Calibration (QTC) provides ISO/IEC 17025 accredited load cell calibration services for manufacturers, laboratories, and industrial operations that depend on accurate force measurement. Proper load cell calibration supports product quality, regulatory compliance, and reliable performance of tension and compression testing systems.

Our load cell calibration services are traceable to the International System of Units (SI) through NIST and performed under a controlled quality system. Each certificate includes documented results suitable for audits and quality system requirements.

ISO/IEC 17025 Accredited & NIST-Traceable

QTC performs load cell calibration under ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation as recognized by A2LA. Measurement traceability is maintained through calibrated reference standards to NIST.

Accredited load cell calibration capability is defined in our official ISO/IEC 17025 Scope of Accreditation:

Accredited Load Cell Calibration Range

QTC’s current A2LA Scope of Accreditation (Cert. No. 4699.01) for force measurement (tension & compression):

Parameter Accredited Range CMC (±)
Force – Tension & Compression 1 to 1000 lbf (0.005 + 0.0012Wt) lbf
Force – Tension & Compression >1000 to 25,000 lbf (1.6 + 0.0013Wt) lbf

In the CMC expressions above, Wt represents weight in pounds.

Load Cell Calibration Methods

Load cell calibration is performed using controlled force application and comparison to calibrated reference standards. Calibration verifies measurement accuracy across multiple force points within the operating range of the load cell.

Calibration practices align with recognized force verification standards such as ASTM E4 – Standard Practices for Force Verification of Testing Machines where applicable.

  • Calibration of tension load cells
  • Calibration of compression load cells
  • Documented measurement results and uncertainty
  • Certificates issued in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025

If your load cell calibration requires specific test point distribution, reporting formats, or acceptance criteria, those requirements can be addressed at the time of quote.

On-Site & In-House Load Cell Calibration Services

QTC offers both in-house and field load cell calibration services as permitted within our accreditation scope.

  • In-house load cell calibration performed at our Nicholasville, KY laboratory
  • On-site load cell calibration available where applicable
  • Documented calibration certificates for compliance and audit readiness

Load Cell Calibration Uncertainty

Measurement uncertainty for accredited load cell calibration is defined in the scope as a Calibration and Measurement Capability (CMC) and varies by force range. For 1 to 1000 lbf, the CMC is listed as (0.005 + 0.0012Wt) lbf. For >1000 to 25,000 lbf, the CMC is (1.6 + 0.0013Wt) lbf.

If your application requires defined acceptance criteria, documented decision rules, or customer-specific reporting, include those requirements when requesting load cell calibration services.
